Competition gives an opportunity to excel and enhance our creativity and passion. One becomes more passionate towards his skill with a purpose of winning and acclamations. St. Paul Sr. Sec. Co-ed School, Anand Nagar, commemorating its Pearl Jubilee Year, added one more feather to its Cap of Celebrations, by organizing once again the 4th Inter School Dance competition for St. Chavara Rolling Trophy 2018-19. The chief guests for the occasion were Rev. Fr. Joby Pullikan CMI, Secretary for Education and Rev. Fr. Justin Akkara CMI, Provincial, CMI St. Paul Province, Bhopal. Principal Rev. Fr. Sebi Edattukaran CMI along with the Manager Rev. Fr. James M. L. CMI, Vice-Principals Rev. Fr. Peter M. CMI and Ms. Rony Joy were also present for the occasion.
Rev. Fr. Joby in his speech encouraged the students to overcome one's obstacles that occur in our life through our passion and unflinching faith, here he cited the example of Dance, Choreographer, Scholar and Bureaucrat as well as a Padma Shri Awardee known for her proficiency in classical dance form of Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi, Danseuse Ananda Shankara Jayant, who fought against the terminal disease and was subsequently cured.
The judges on this occasion were Guru Shri Pradeep Krishnan, Founder and Director of Kalanjali Dance Academy, Dr. Vijaya Sharma, Associate professor, MLB College and a proficient Kathak Dancer and Smt. Madhurima Vishwas, a well-known proponent of Rabindra Nritya and a prolific stage performer and a distinguished choreographer. The chosen theme of the event was 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' ; with the purpose of sensitizing the most relevant and concerned issues on Girl Child as well as the various atrocities committed aganist women. Various schools from in and around the city participated in this event. Every participating team performed their skills through various contemporary and free style dance forms using innumerable props and scintillating presentations.
During the closing ceremony Rev. Fr. Justin addressed the audience with the pinch of humour, stating that he at times feel a bit jealous watching the dancers perform, as dancing is a very skillful art which calls for synchronization of body with mind, taking the performer to another dimension of life. Thus he emphasized that if possible one should learn any one form of dance in one's life.
A small token of love and appreciation was extended to the judges by the Principal. Thereafter, the much awaited award ceremony took place where the First Position was bagged by DPS, Neelbed, followed by the First runner-up fetched by Trinity Convent School, Vidisha and the Second runner-up clinched by St. Xavier's School, Bhopal.
The entire programme was anchored by Ms. Julie Thomas and Ms. Suma Jose. Towards the end the Vote of thanks was extended by Ms. Anupama Achary.
